Do you want to plan fun summer activities for your family without blowing up your bank account? Do you want to save money on rising food costs? Do you want to grow fresh, beautiful flowers to liven up your home with color and fragrance? Then why not grow your very own fruits, vegetables and flowers in your own general hydroponics garden? General hydroponics gardening is an activity your whole family can enjoy!

(PRWEB) May 28, 2008 -- As Americans look for ways to lower their food bills, get healthier and find home-based hobbies, they're turning to general hydroponics for homegrown fun, fruits, vegetables and flowers.

Advanced Nutrients founders Michael Straumietis, Robert C. Higgins and Gino Yordanov explain that general hydroponics growing and techniques are catching on as a trendy alternative to traditional backyard gardens. Advanced Nutrients is a Seattle-based plant fertilizer and nutrients company.

"We're not talking about specialty hydroponics, which uses expensive lights, soil-free techniques and an industrial approach," explains Michael Straumietis. "General hydroponics growing is a hybrid gardening style that combines the benefits of outdoor soil gardening with the features of hydroponics technology and methods."

According to Advanced Nutrients co-founder Robert C. Higgins, general hydroponics gardens produce more fresher, vibrant and tastier fruits and vegetables and more fragrant flowers because gardeners have more control over their gardening environment.

"General hydroponics methods allow you to control temperature, humidity, plant nutrition, growth phases and harvest timing," Robert C. Higgins says. "You really can't do that with traditional gardening methods."

Company president Gino Yordanov says hydroponics retailers are reporting an upswing in sales of general hydroponics nutrients, equipment and supplies.

"Themain reason is you want to garden all year long. You want to control what goes into your vegetables, flowers and fruits. They want a steady supply of healthful food. And you like general hydroponics cultivation because it gives you cheaper, better produce and an interesting home activity that involves your whole family," says Gino.

Michael, Robert and Gino each believe growing houseplants, flowers, fruits and vegetables with general hydroponics techniques is becoming a popular past-time, with some people even installing special plumbing and electrical fixtures in "general hydroponics home gardening rooms."

"We predict that within ten years general hydroponics growing will be a common part of the American suburban gardening landscape," states Straumietis.
